With several years of experience across multinational organisations, Dimakatso Kanyane, Founder of Dillets_sa, is a true visionary. Guided by the principle that progress must be inclusive and purpose-driven, she founded Dillets Sanitary Products—an enterprise addressing one of the most pressing yet overlooked challenges: underprivileged girls whose socio-economic opportunities are negatively affected by limited access to menstrual hygiene products.

Her company delivers high-quality, affordable menstrual hygiene solutions to economically disadvantaged girls, thus transforming access into opportunity by restoring confidence. Ms. Dimakatso Kanyane is not only building a business, but advancing dignity, equity, and the promise of a stronger generation.

1.When did you get the big idea to become independent?

I realised I wanted to become independent the moment I understood that impact doesn't happen by waiting for permission. I saw a gap, felt a deep conviction to solve it, and decided to build something that would push me beyond my comfort zone. That's when the idea stopped being a dream and became a reality – or rather a responsibility!

2. Where did the inspiration for setting up your own business come from?

My inspiration came from lived experiences, seeing real needs in communities and recognising that dignity-based solutions were lacking. Instead of waiting for someone else to fix it, I committed myself to creating something sustainable, innovative and meaningful. That purpose guided every step of the business.

3. How easy or difficult has it been for you, as a woman entrepreneur, to set up and promote your business?

The journey has not been an easy one. Access to funding, manufacturing infrastructure, and market penetration as a woman often comes with extra barriers. However, it has been worthwhile. Every obstacle sharpened my strategy, made me more resilient, and helped me build partnerships that truly matter. The challenges didn't weaken me. They strengthened my business vision.

4. Do you think women entrepreneurs support other women? How have you impacted or mentored other women?

Absolutely. When women lead, we naturally create room for others. I have made it intentional to uplift women across my supply chain, whether through employment, mentorship, or collaboration. I believe in opening doors, sharing resources, and making sure that the path is wider for the next woman who comes after me.

5. How do you bring about work-life balance?

Work-life balance is something I create through boundaries and intentional rest. I have learned to delegate, prioritise mental wellness, and protect my peace. I believe sustainable leadership begins with self-care, allowing me to lead with clarity, presence, and purpose.

6. What does the road ahead look like in 2026?

The road ahead is marked with expansion, deeper partnerships, and strengthening our footprint in both, corporate and community spaces. We are scaling our manufacturing capacity, increasing distribution, and positioning the business as a leader in impact-driven innovation. Undoubtedly, 2026 is about growth with purpose.
