The Bihar government, led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, has formally launched the Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana, an employment scheme that will financially empower one woman from every family across the state. Starting from September 2025, beneficiaries will receive an initial ₹10,000 directly into their bank accounts to start a business or employment activity of their choice. After six months, a progress assessment will determine eligibility for additional financial assistance of up to ₹2 lakh. The initiative focuses on increasing local employment opportunities, curbing out-migration, and supporting women’s entrepreneurship with market access through the development of haat bazaars statewide.
